Focus and Scope

Global Education Review is a forum for reporting approaches to and implications of educational practice, as well as the influence of social, economic, and political forces on educational practice in different countries or global regions.   GER is published in thematic issues that reflect on policy and practice in educational settings in the United States and abroad.   Selected themes focus on issues that are relevant to the field of education, with implications for policy nationally and/or globally.

As a generalist journal, GER strives to provide open access, clearly written articles that are free of technical jargon to policy makers and educators at all levels, including those directly involved with student learning on a daily basis.

Theoretical, empirical, and policy related articles are welcomed that address critical issues in education throughout the world.

Peer Review Process

GER utilizes a two stage review process.  Initially, the editor and theme editors screen all manuscripts for appropriateness of content.  Within one week reasons for rejection at this stage are communicated to the author(s).

During the second stage, manuscripts go through a masked peer review process with at least two referees. The editor will consider reviewers’ and theme editors’ recommendations when deciding to accept, accept with conditions, or reject a manuscript.  Reviewers’ comments are typically sent to the lead author within eight weeks of submission.

Publication Frequency

Global Education Review will be published four times a year: February 1; April 15; September 1; November 15.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
